UPDATE 3/5/2011

Hey I'm sorry for not updating my Blog sooner, I have received so many texts and emails yelling at me to do so. I'm sorry.
At this point my results came up negative for Cancer, I do have some Ulcers in my Esophagus up near my throat that need to be dealt with, I also have some
"pre-cancerous" conditions that have reoccurred and they are also being dealt with through medication right now,I will not know if the medications are doing the job until my next series of tests, my follow up appointments with The University Of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) are in a few weeks to check for my lack of progression or progression of my "stuff" whichever applies. Then from there we keep, keeping on. My weight is still down but I am trying to build that up. I am in work with reconstruction of some teeth to include my fronts that have been damaged my the Radiation Treatments which is often very common.

New Post

Well its been 1 year and 5 months since I have been a Cancer Survivor, I haven't been feeling good and weight has dropped noticeably. I had a Petscan yesterday Feb 10, 2011 and an appoint with Dr. Burrows my Thoracic Surgeon and Dr. Horiba my Chemo Oncologist following to read and discuss the results of the Petscan and to just talk about my overall health. Apparently a spot has "Lit up" as the doctors call it on my Petscan. There are indications that Cancer possibly has come back to my Esophagus located higher up and closer to my throat this time. Good news is it localized with no Lymphoid or other organ involvement, or so it appears. Next step is a EDG with in the next 2 weeks to prove those finds to be wrong. Its just an eyebrow lifter at this point, no concrete word on what it is, could just be inflammation. I'm an optimist could be nothing, fingers are crossed.

11 months and 14 days

Im mobile and sitting in the Greenebaum Cancer Center at the Universiry of Maryland. I just completed my Pelvic and Chest PT Scan and now waiting for Dr Burrows to read them and then see me, its Just 14 days shy of being 1 year Cancer free I reflect back, Wow what a year it has been. Ill update after I get home later,

I met with Dr. Burrows my Thoracic Surgeon and Dr Horiba my Chemo Oncologist today. They read all my Scan and Blood results. I am still Cancer Free ! What a great day !
Both doctors are very happy and suprised with the way I have progressed and the way I look, they didnt expect me to bounce back the way I have. I am having difficulty swallowing and they will bring me in, in a few weeks to go in and try to stretch my Esophagus, I also need to schedule an appointment to have my med port removed.

My wieght is holding at 158 lbs and it seems thats all I can achieve, but the Doctors are happy with it.

Dr. Burrows says that the pain I am expieriancing in my right chest and abdomin area is normal due to the level of surgery that I underwent, and he also claims that I will have it for the rest of my life. As he says," I am his patient for life, and will always know that he had his hands in me." But thats okay, im alive.

As my boss Wayne says, " Only the good die young."
